Builds villages of tiny homes as transitional housing for veterans experiencing homelessness, founded and led by combat veterans. Serves any veteran who took the oath to defend the Constitution, regardless of discharge status, length of service, or branch — a deliberately open eligibility standard that reaches veterans excluded from VA-funded programs. Homes are 240 square feet for individuals and 360 for families, pet-friendly, fully furnished, and rent-free; residents commit instead to a case management program built on five pillars: physical and mental health, income stability, fiscal responsibility, education and training, and network of support. Caseworkers carry no more than 10 veterans each and meet weekly. Average stay is roughly 335 days, with a reported 85 percent success rate transitioning to permanent housing. Six villages operating as of late 2025 with continued expansion, including a 50-home community approved in Dallas in May 2026.

Built by veterans for veterans, funded in part through a grant agreement with the SBA, and open to veterans, active-duty service members, Guard and Reserve members, military spouses, and immediate family. Delivers a full training pathway rather than a single class: LaunchPoint (assessing a business idea), Warrior Academy (on-demand business-planning course), Warrior University (an eight-week live accelerator covering strategy, business-model design, customer discovery, and go-to-market), and Activate (a technology-focused MVP program run with the Boeing Center at Virginia Tech). Completing the training unlocks eligibility for an invite-only Business Shower, a pitch competition where selected founders compete for grants of up to $20,000 in non-dilutive funding. Since 2015 it has worked with more than 30,000 military-connected entrepreneurs and helped create and fund over 100 veteran-owned businesses. Bridges the tuition gap when Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits don't fully cover private school or out-of-state tuition — one of the most underused education benefits because veterans don't know their school participates. How it works: the school voluntarily waives a portion of excess tuition and VA matches dollar-for-dollar, often reducing out-of-pocket cost to zero. GI Bill caps private school payments at ~$29,920/yr (2025-26); Yellow Ribbon covers the rest at participating schools. Eligibility requires 100% Post-9/11 GI Bill benefit level (36+ months post-9/11 service, Purple Heart recipients, 30+ days with service-connected disability discharge, or active duty with 100% eligibility). Spots are limited and first-come-first-served at many schools — check the VA school search tool before assuming a school is too expensive.

Service-disabled veteran-owned small business founded in March 2022 by retired Marine lieutenant colonel Kevin Schmiegel — founder of Hiring Our Heroes at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce — and retired Marine colonel Paul Cucinotta. Not a direct-service provider: ZeroMils works as a social-impact consultancy and convener whose clients are the corporations and nonprofits that serve the military community, not individual veterans. Its Military Thriving model is a deliberate counter to military-friendly branding — the argument being that the vast majority of veterans and families thrive because of their service, not in spite of it, and that the sector should build cultures that retain military talent rather than narratives of pity. Coaches nonprofits on development, marketing, operations, and programs; helps employers move beyond surface-level hiring commitments; and convenes stakeholders across regional Military Thriving communities in Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Southern California, Virginia, Georgia, and Indiana. Best known publicly for its annual Military Thriving Change Forum at Georgetown University and its Uniting in Service volunteer events.
