National nonprofit creating a culture that articulates veterans' experiences, builds collaborative community for artistic expression, and bears witness to war and the full range of military experiences. Founded in Philadelphia — now national. Free programs: week-long retreats (writing, art, Master Classes, wellness professionals, community); weekly online writing workshops in NJ and Minnesota; BIPOC writing workshops; NOLA workshops and dinners; art exhibitions in Chicago, Boston, DC, Philadelphia, New York, Martha's Vineyard, and other cities; readings at the internationally recognized Dodge Poetry Festival. Collaborates with Combat Paper on art and paper-making. Also provides facilitator training for organizations working with veterans. Program of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia. Distinct from CreatiVets (music/art therapy for PTSD/TBI) and The War Horse (journalism) — Warrior Writers is specifically literary and community-creative.
