PCHIPS Purpose. 🚀 Entrepreneurship
Program of IVMF at Syracuse University, specifically designed for military spouses, family members with caregiving responsibilities, and surviving spouses of fallen service members — providing the same caliber of entrepreneurship training as the EBV program but adapted for home-based business launch and the realities of military family life. Three phases: online instruction, residential component, and follow-on coaching. Integrates entrepreneurship training with caregiver and family logistics. No cost to participants. Part of the IVMF suite alongside EBV, V-WISE, and Onward to Opportunity.

Full Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits for surviving spouses and children of service members who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2001 — named for Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry, killed in action in Iraq in 2006, who left behind a wife and three young children. Each eligible family member holds an independent 36-month entitlement — benefits are not shared or divided. Covers full in-state tuition at public schools, up to $29,920 per year at private schools (2025-2026), monthly housing allowance, and $1,000/yr books stipend. Children eligible ages 18-33. Surviving spouses may remarry and retain eligibility under a 2025 rule change. The service member does not need to have died in combat — line-of-duty deaths during training, accidents, or service-related illness all qualify.

The premier national organization for anyone who has experienced the death of a military loved one — regardless of the relationship to the deceased or the circumstance of the death. Founded in 1994 by Bonnie Carroll after losing her husband in a military plane crash, TAPS provides peer-based emotional support, grief resources, casualty casework assistance, and survivor seminars 365 days a year. The TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar is the world's largest gathering of military loss survivors. Children and teens are served through Good Grief Camps. Free to all surviving family members, friends, and caregivers.
