  Free, confidential, 24/7 three-digit helpline connecting callers to trained Community Resource Specialists — available to 99% of the U.S. population in more than 180 languages, staffed by over 2,400 people across contact centers serving all 50 states and Puerto Rico. United Way Worldwide is the convener and largest supporter of the network. Handled 19 million referrals in 2025, an increase of more than one million over 2024, averaging 37 referrals per minute; housing is now nearly one in three requests. Explicitly includes veteran services alongside crisis and emergency counseling, disaster assistance, food, healthcare, housing and utilities, employment, and childcare. A specialized Caregiver Support Program run with AARP operates in 32 states and Puerto Rico as of June 2026, covering respite care, home safety, transportation, and veterans' benefits.

  Founded 2011 by MG Alan B. Salisbury (USA, Ret.) and based in Alexandria, VA. The Case Coordination Program provides intensive, long-term, one-on-one case management for service members, veterans, and families facing the most complex and compounding situations, including those at risk of suicide and other negative outcomes. Caseworkers coordinate across multiple providers and stay with the case rather than making a single referral and closing the file, which is what separates this from a directory or a warm handoff. Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the VA Veterans Experience Office in December 2018. Also operates PATRIOTlink, listed separately under Navigation and Coordination.   The nation's first veteran-founded, veteran-focused nonprofit dedicated specifically to reducing military and veteran suicide. Provides free, confidential, one-on-one support through trained wellness coordinators who work with clients over time — sustained case management addressing the drivers of crisis such as financial stress, relationships, sleep, and access to care, rather than a single call. Uses data and analytics to reach those at highest risk. Complements rather than replaces the Veterans Crisis Line (988, then 1): the Crisis Line for the acute emergency, STOP Soldier Suicide for the longer arc of getting stable. Free and confidential.
