Invictus Games Foundation
NonprofitInternational charity founded in 2014 by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, focused on the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans through adaptive sport. Stages the Invictus Games, a multi-sport competition that has grown to draw over 500 competitors from around 25 nations, and runs the We Are Invictus digital community platform connecting the international wounded-warrior community between Games for sports, esports, and adventurous challenges. Congressionally chartered veterans organization under Title 36 U.S. Code Chapter 1405, formed in 1932 and headquartered near Washington, D.C., with roughly 49,300 members. Membership is exclusively limited to service members who received the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat, which makes it the only national organization composed entirely of combat-wounded veterans. Mission is to foster goodwill and camaraderie among combat-wounded veterans, promote patriotism, support legislative initiatives, and provide service to all veterans and their families. The MOPH Service Program assists all U.S. military veterans — members and nonmembers alike — in working with the VA and filing benefit claims. Also runs a youth activities program and a sister organization, the MOPH Auxiliary, open to parents, spouses, children, and widows of Purple Heart recipients.

Move United
NonprofitThe nation's largest community-based adaptive sports organization, formed in 2020 by the merger of Disabled Sports USA (founded 1956 by Vietnam veterans) and Adaptive Sports USA (1967) — both originally created by military veterans. Operates a network of more than 200 chapters across 43 states offering over 70 adaptive sports, from alpine and Nordic skiing to sled hockey, wheelchair basketball, cycling, climbing, and track and field, with a goal of being locally available to 90 percent of the U.S. population by 2028. Its Move United Warfighters program is the largest nonprofit provider of adaptive sports to injured veterans, delivering free programming to all service members and veterans with a permanent physical disability; since its founding by members of the 10th Mountain Division to serve injured Vietnam veterans it has served more than 21,556 wounded warriors and family members at no cost. Recognized by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and administers VA Adaptive Sports Grant funding to member organizations nationwide. National Association of County Veterans Service Officers — the professional body for the county and local government service officers who are, for a large share of veterans, the actual first point of contact with the benefits system. County Veteran Service Officers are government employees, typically county-funded, who are VA-accredited to prepare, present, and prosecute claims free of charge, and who serve veterans in their home communities rather than requiring travel to a regional office. NACVSO provides accreditation training, continuing education, and certification for these officers, and advocates on their behalf in federal policy. Listed here because finding your local CVSO is one of the highest-value navigation steps available to a veteran and is consistently underused.
