VA Caregiver Support Program (PCAFC)

One of the most undersurfaced VA programs — pays eligible family members a monthly stipend to provide care for veterans with 70%+ combined service-connected disability ratings. PCAFC benefits include monthly caregiver stipend, CHAMPVA health coverage for the caregiver, up to 30 days respite care annually, mental health counseling, legal and financial planning services, and travel assistance to VA appointments. A second tier — Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS) — provides coaching, peer mentoring, and skills training for caregivers of veterans from ALL eras enrolled in VA healthcare, even if PCAFC eligibility requirements aren't met.
