Serving Our Willing Warriors (SOWW)

Virginia 501(c)(3) providing cost-free retreat stays and programs for wounded, ill, and injured service members and disabled veterans at the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run — 37 acres in Haymarket, VA with an 11,000 sq ft home-away-from-home just 45 minutes from Walter Reed and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. Founded 2006 through hospital visits at Walter Reed; established the Bull Run retreat in 2015. Weekend and week-long retreats include activities, a Visiting Chef Program, and camaraderie tailored to each warrior family. SOWW uses evidence-based outcome measurement tools including the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), WHO-5 Well-Being Index, GAD-7, and PHQ-8 to assess impact.
