The Comfort Crew for Military Kids (CCMK)

National nonprofit founded in 2007 by author and illustrator Trevor Romain and Ronda Englander to build resilience in school-age military children facing the specific stresses of military life: multiple deployments, reintegration when a parent returns, moving every two to three years, a parent's visible or invisible injuries, and grief over the loss of a family member. Best known for its Comfort Kits — four specialized resource kits, each addressing one of those transitions, using humor and personal stories to open kids up to talking about the tough stuff. Delivers through kits, in-person school assemblies and the With You All the Way! Tour, and the online Comfort Crew Academy resiliency platform. Core objectives are increasing communication within families, teaching kids to understand and express their feelings, and making sure every military child knows they are not alone. Has reached over a million military family members across all 50 states and in countries where military kids live overseas, historically in partnership with the USO.
