SPARTA Pride

Founded in 2013 — the nation's premier nonprofit dedicated specifically to transgender service members, veterans, and their families. 2,000+ transgender Americans actively serving in the U.S. Armed Forces are SPARTA members, many with one to two decades of honorable service. Three programs: peer support and mentoring communities (on Facebook and private website forums), emergency grants to members in need, and active policy advocacy before Congress, the Pentagon, and the courts. Board comprises active duty, Reserve, and veteran transgender service members. SPARTA testified before the House Armed Services Committee, has been guests at the State of the Union, and responded to every major policy shift affecting transgender military service — including a July 2026 DoD announcement expanding testosterone screening. Meaningfully distinct from MMAA — SPARTA serves the transgender lane specifically; MMAA serves the broader LGBTQ+ military community.
